Gabriel for Gaza - Welsh Three Peaks Challenge

Donation protected
Gabriel, our six year old son, will be taking on the Welsh Three Peaks Challenge to raise desperately needed funds to help our family in Gaza.

This involves climbing the highest peak in Wales, Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), as well as Cader Idris and Pen y Fan, all in 24 hours. This is a combined total ascent of 2,334 meters. He will take on this challenge in late Spring / Summer of this year (2024) once we have the most favourable weather conditions and daylight hours. This will give Gabriel the best chance of success, and as soon as we set-off, we will let you all know. In the meantime, he’s in training!

As many of you will know, we have been fundraising and campaigning for peace following the start of the war in Gaza. We thank every single one of you for supporting us through your donations and sharing our story. It truly means the world to us, and our family, who remain trapped in Gaza.

*This image was kindly created for us by an artist in Argentina to capture some of our family, but retain their privacy and address their fear of potentially being targeted.

During six-months of war, Gabriel has prayed every day for his family. He has taken part in marches calling for a ceasefire, and has come along to meetings with our local MP, Liz Saville-Roberts. He has also attended a fundraiser to help another Gazan family escape to safety. However, he wants to do more, and when he heard about a “mountain challenge,” he has jumped at the chance. We will be there alongside him, with every stride and drop of sweat, thinking about our family’s suffering.

As we write this, our family remain displaced in Rafah with their homes in Khan Yunis completely destroyed. There is no way out. Food, water and medicine is incredibly scarce, and bombs continue to fall all around them. Gabriel now wants to challenge himself (and us!) to raise as much money as he possibly can to help his family in Gaza in any way possible.

*This is the latest image we have of our family’s home in Gaza following Israeli troops recently leaving Khan Yunis.

Gabriel’s grandad, Rob, is also hoping to come along to join the challenge, and Gabriel would delight in any of his friends, family, or anybody else coming along to any part of the challenge to cheer him on.

Please share and donate if you can.

Diolch / Thank you,

Gabriel Fares ️ ❤️
