Help Gabriella enjoy spending time with her family

Meet Gabriella!!! This beautiful young lady was diagnosed with a brain tumor in September of 2019. She has had multiple surgeries, chemotherapy, radiation and several other therapies at Smilow Cancer Center in New Haven and most recently has been traveling to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston for additional medical testing and procedures. Gabriella is a strong fighter and has remained resilient throughout her tough battle. She is 15 years old. Yes, FIFTEEN!!!!!

Her loving and supportive parents are Gina Reitmeyer, an Assistant Professor of Nursing at Sacred Heart University and Douglas Reitmeyer, an Assistant Fire Chief with the Stratford Fire Department. She is the youngest of three children and is adored by her brother Douglas and sister Rose. She is in the 10th grade at Nonnewaug Regional High School where she studies Animal Science.

Gabriella admires the outdoors and enjoys camping, hiking and skiing. To say she is an animal lover would be an understatement. She has always kept busy with her dog Timber, rabbit Hazel and several of her fish friends, however, her main passion is with horses, particularly Kate. She currently tries to ride and spend time with horses at a farm in Woodbury as well as her uncle’s farm in Florida. The farm time has always been an effective therapy for her throughout this battle.

While Gabriella does have medical insurance, the copays and prescription costs have been accumulating. The travel, lodging and fuel expenses to travel back and forth sometimes daily, if not weekly, from their home in Oxford to New Haven and Boston is daunting. This Go Fund Me account has been set up in hope of alleviating the family of some of the financial stress and to enable them the opportunities of spending quality time with Gabriella and allowing her to enjoy the beautiful things that life has to offer. Your generous donations will not only be used for medical costs, but also to allow their family to spend time with her grandparents and extended family, as well as to visit and spend time with her horse. These funds will also help her siblings who attend colleges out of State, to travel home frequently to support their family and be by her side.
