GADUGI - HONORING TOMMY WILDCAT AND ANNIE WILDCAT

Donation protected
Dear Friends of Cherokee National Treasure, Tommy Wildcat,

Osiyo!

As many are aware, Tommy is on a journey to fulfill a dream his mother, Cherokee National Treasure, Annie Wildcat had envisioned for them: to use his carpentry skills to build a house on the family’s allotment.  Tragically, Annie’s life was cut short due to an automobile accident and she is not here on earth to take part in their planned adventure. Since June of 2019, Tommy has spent many hours after work and on weekends to make this dream a reality. I don’t have to tell those who know Tommy what a great son, brother, uncle, and friend he has been over the years. If you have spent any time around him, you quickly knew how important his family is to him. He has not worked to enrich his own life but to ensure his family, and I mean all his family, has what they need. And this, of course, is what enriches his life and gives him meaning and satisfaction.  He will give anybody whatever he has if he sees they have a need.  Like many who have a giving heart and are always thinking of others, he sometimes could use a little help and caring directed toward him.  Everything he earns goes to helping others.

Some of us have been approached by friends asking what they can do to help Tommy.  After discussing this with him we know that he has purchased building materials out of each paycheck as family needs would allow. We know he truly wants to build this house, nearly 800 sq ft, with his own two hands. This is very much a spiritual journey for him…everything he can legally do with his own two hands, staying within building safety codes, is his goal.  He has a lot of what he needs, but, does have a few more needs that will take additional finances that would bless his life and friendship.  If you choose to join us in honoring Tommy and Annie through this time of ‘GADUGI’, the Cherokee word for ‘working together for the good of others’, I know he will never set foot inside his house without acknowledging the warmth of the people whom loved and supported him and honored his mother.

Tommy has blessed those of us whom are taking the time to read this; I ask that you join his friends in honoring him and his mother. Tommy has given so much to help others.  Every amount, no matter the size, will add up and make this possible. The goal is set at $15,000.  Any amount over this will help with home related expenses and furnishing this home.  Let’s do this!  Gadugi!

I asked Tommy to share a few words as to what he’s been up to.  I will post updates and photos, and I’m sure there will be many flute songs around a campfire that will help us feel connected as we move forward in the spirit of Gadugi.

FROM TOMMY:

OSIYO-Gvlielichisi-(I appreciate you.) I’ve been on a Spiritual Journey building a house Mom Annie wanted me to build before she walked on. I’ve been busy honoring her and it is coming along.  I have purchased building materials along the way and have the majority of them.  As most of you are aware, I’m trying to do the construction by myself to honor my mother. It is coming along and I have made good progress.  I appreciate all the prayers and support from friends and I know that many folks have asked to help some way. A few of my close friends have encouraged me to allow them to help and encouraged me to allow others to help whom are seeking a way to assist.

There are definitely some building materials I still need.  I need to build the front and back porches; these will need to include handicapped ramps to be accessible to my brother Lucas and others who may need them. I need an additional exterior door, more wiring and more insulation, and I will need more sheetrock. There are other items I will need to finish off the inside of the house.  Putting in the septic system is a greater cost than initially anticipated.  We are calculating roughly $15,000 will help me to the finish line.

With this help, every time I walk in and out of the house I will know & be very grateful EVERY DAY that my friends helped with the porches and entrance & helped me finish off additional areas.
