As many of you may know, my oldest son was diagnosed with Leukemia (ALL) back in March of 2015. After several rounds of  chemo, a bone marrow transplant, and suffering through a host of rejection symptoms, all of which he endured with an undying sense of optimism,  he finally seemed to be making real strides towards the road to recovery. But then the unthinkable happened back in June when he was diagnosed with having relapsed. The toll of this news, again, has been devastating, far more than anyone should ever have to bear in a lifetime. Even more recently he has been fighting off pneumonia and I find myself asking when is this kid going to get a break? When will life let him come up for a breath of fresh air?

 

I'm putting together this fundraiser to help my son out with his day to day living expenses, uncovered medical bills, travel and lodging costs related to his far to frequent trips to Tampa for treatment, etc, etc.....My son has not worked in a year and a half and his girlfriend can only work part time jobs with very flexible schedules, and has often times had to leave jobs due to extended caretaking duties with my son. Not sure we would have made it through this without her and I am forever grateful.

 

The first GoFundMe fundraiser we set up back in March 2015 was very successful and incredibly helpful at getting us through the early months of this ongoing health crisis ordeal.  But as the months stretched into years, I find that maybe we were a little naive and overly optimistic as to how this journey would progress. The financial burden has become heavy, and with no clear skies and smooth sailing in sight we are forced to buckle down and weather this storm as best as we can.
