In 2017 the dreams of Gail & John McDermott of Holbrook finally came true when they found and bought a beautiful home in Cape Coral, Florida. In 2020 they said goodbye to Long Island and moved to sunny Cape Coral full time to enjoy the fruits of their retirement that they worked tirelessly for. On Wednesday September 28th 2022 they were advised to evacuate for Hurricane Ian. They left with an overnight bag and their pets and traveled to their daughter’s home not knowing the devastation the next day would bring.
A 12 foot storm surge breached their home destroying everything in its path.
The money raised here will be used toward living and travel expenses while they wait to begin repairs on their home.
