HELP US TO PROTECT YOUR QUALITY OF LIFE
The state of Virginia currently owns the title “Most Data Centers in the World” due to built and soon-to-be-built industrial monoliths.

Gainesville Citizens for Smart Growth is a 501(c)(3) public charity founded to support citizens of Prince William County in their quest to deny data centers being built in the Rural Crescent. One such area borders Manassas National Battlefield Park and Conway Robinson State Forest.

Allowing zoning approval for clusters of immense data center campuses in the 2,139 acre Prince William Digital Gateway will be detrimental to all of us. Potential problems could include 24/7 data center noise, diesel pollution from back-up generators, undue stress on our electrical grid, and deforestation of land resulting in loss of protection to our wildlife.

An average data center generator generates 1.5 to 3.0 MW of power.
Each 2 MW (average size) generator (at half load) burns 72 gallons of diesel per hour. A full load burns 140 gallons per hour.
With an estimate of 120 buildings with about 45 generators each (on average) there will be 60 million square feet of buildings in the Gainesville/Bristow area. This is conservatively 5,000 generators.
half load 5,000 X 72 = 360,000 gallons of diesel per hour
full load 5,000 X 140 = 700,000 gallons of diesel per hour

To properly maintain the integrity of the Occoquan Reservoir for our drinking water, we especially need to adhere to the Chesapeake Bay Preservation Act when building such large clusters of data centers. In addition, 10 to 15 years of massive construction machinery and construction traffic will add significant air pollution to the area.

The financial promises of this project are overstated due to the heavy burden of infrastructure costs that will be passed onto all citizens of Prince William County.

We ask you to donate to the legal fund

2,139 acres (27.6 million sq. ft of data centers) in the Occoquan Reservoir Watershed will be destroyed.

Feb '22 - This is just a few of the 25 million sq.ft. of data centers, Ashburn, Loudoun.
