Galway City Chamber Choir - Japan 2024

Galway City Chamber Choir is embarking on an ambitious tour in the Far East. The choir which is made up of 24 Galwegians is headed for a 12-day tour to Japan in June 2024 and will be the first choir of its kind from Ireland to tour there. The choir is diverse in age and has many members working professionally as musicians in Galway.

This tour has come at the perfect time and is of great importance to the choir and the cultural community of Galway. Music education is key to musical development, and the choir is made up of many music educators and practitioners representing all career stages. The tour will be a source of inspiration for these dedicated musicians which will have a direct impact on music education in Galway for many years to come. The choir also has a strong working relationship with the new University of Galway Music Department and has already created opportunities for students and alumni in a professional capacity.

The choir has made a substantial footprint on the cultural landscape of Galway over the last few years and we aspire to continue to continually develop our music activity here for many years to come.
