Galway OM teams go to the World Finals!

Hey there! My name is Nichole and I coach our school's Division 3 (grades 9-12) Odyssey of the Mind team. My friend Julie coaches the Division 1 team (grades 3-5). Together, with the parents of our team members, we are raising funds because BOTH OF OUR TEAMS QUALIFIED FOR THE WORLD FINALS THIS YEAR!!! It is the first time in Odyssey of the Mind history that small-town Galway has sent two teams in the same year! Both teams took 3rd place at the State Tournament in Syracuse on April 15th, advancing them to the World Finals. The kids did an amazing job and demonstrated that the work happening in the Galway OM program is some of the best in the state!

The team members are:

Division 3 - Shamus Evans, Simon Evans, Eben Perkins, Peregrine Perkins, Aidan Reekie-Mell, Noah Montague and Taylor Germain

Division 1 - Henry Pasieka, Avery Pasieka, Theo Friedman, Avery Menge, Edmund Perkins, Emma DiPasquale and Mari Smith

For those who are unsure of what Odyssey of the Mind (OM) actually is, OM is an international creative problem-solving competition that teaches children how to develop and use their natural creativity to become problem-solvers. The team develops a performance that solves a complex “problem”, builds their own sets and props, and writes their own scripts - all without outside assistance. The D3 team has been working to get to World's for over a decade, and the D1 team will be attending the finals for their second year in a row! Both teams started this year’s problem in the fall and have been working hard since.

Now their next challenge is raising the funding necessary to get to the OM World Finals in Michigan that begins on May 24th. Every donation, no matter what size, will help cover the considerable transportation, housing and tournament costs. Please help and share so that we can get these amazing teams to Michigan!
