Brothers!
Happy New Year! I just wanted to take a moment and give our Brotherhood a current State-of-the-Fraternity message.
The first question I am often asked when seeing brothers is: “How is the house doing?”
I am pleased to report that our undergraduate members are doing great! The pandemic and adjusting to a mix of online and in-person classes has been a learning curve, but I am pleased that our overall GPA is above a 3.0.
In academic year 2019/2020, our gentlemen participated in Homecoming with the Women of Gamma Phi Beta, Freshman Follies with the Women of Alpha Chi Omega, Varsity Revue with Delta Delta Delta, and were paired with Phi Mu for Spring Sing. They were involved in countless Sorority Philanthropies raising much needed funds for those in need within the Stillwater Community and Pikes themselves hosted their annual Fire House Fever for the Stillwater Fire Department. Pi Kappa Alpha Athletics still continues to be a force winning many All-Greek Championships as well as most recently All-University Football Champions.
Recruitment is at an all-time high with an average of over 50 New Members in each of our past 3 fall classes, ranking #1 on the OSU campus. Spring recruitment is also very solid. In Fall Semester 2020 we welcomed 45 new brothers into Gamma Chi, during 2 separate initiations ceremonies. Many thanks to all involved for working so diligently for the success of our chapter.
The Neal Patterson Chapter House continues to be the best fraternity facility on campus; can you believe this is year 4 of men living in the house? Mom Laura and Miss Cherry work so very hard to keep the house in pristine condition. With that being said, it is a fraternity house with over 80 men calling it home, and even though we are surviving the COVID Pandemic, funds are tight.
The Chapter and House Corporation has identified two needs:
1) A professional Pike Hype Video for online recruiting and enhancing our current website for the continued success of recruitment.
2) The chapter house is starting to show a few “nicks and dings” and we need a refresh this summer for minor drywall scuffs, common area painting and minor repairs.
With that being stated the Alumni Association and House Corporation has set up a special ”Go Fund Me” account. This is not meant to be an ongoing ask, but just a one-time suggested donation of $100 per brother to assist us with the projects mentioned above. Anything over and above will remain in our Gamma Chi House Corporation Account to serve as a reserve fund.
