Garden of Hope

The Hope and Memory Garden has been built and lovingly tended by a group of dedicated gardeners. The garden’ s primary source of funding comes from local businesses and private donations. It is a true community project.
These gardeners and donors have created a beautiful, calming environment for peaceful reflection. It would be worthwhile to continue the project and make its presence more widely known within our community.
All donations raised will be given directly to the Project Coordinator Lana Lang. Lana plans to extend the garden by clearing more land, replenish trees and plants and pay for maintenance that cannot be covered with volunteer labour. This includes waste removal and fertilizer supplies. If sufficient funds are raised we will launch a campaign to raise community awareness of the Hope and Memory Garden.
I started this campaign in memory of my wife, Lorna, who died April 2, 2019 of acute lymphocytic leukaemia. Lorna was a volunteer at the garden. She thoroughly enjoyed the work and companionship.
I assist by maintaining the benches. I also hope to rebuild the pergola as further funds come in. As I have stained the different benches I have learned, and met, family who dedicated a particular bench to a loved one lost to cancer. Trees and shrubs are also donated in memory of those passed. Lorna will have a row of French lilacs.
