Gardnerville House Fire
Donation protected
Our grandparent's, Rochelle & Harley Jobe the most loving and giving people, lost almost everything in their house fire on June 19th. Everything was damaged by fire, smoke, chemicals and water.
They have given and given to so many people over the years and never asked for anything in return. Senior citizens going through this kind of change in their 80's is not good for both mental and physical health. It is devastating that this happened to them of all people.
Everyone has asked about insurance... They forgot to sign up for renters insurance when they moved back to Nevada so they do not have coverage for items lost or what needs to be replaced. Everything from kitchen ware, food, furniture, beds, linens, etc... Our grandmother had beautiful furniture, blankets, rugs, pictures and other items that were vintage and passed down from family.
What caused the fire? My grandfather using a mirror outside to be able to see what he was doing up close. He left the magnified mirror on his workbench outside and the sun reflected onto the house and caught fire to the wood side panel. Absolute freak accident. Moral of the story, do not leave mirrors where the sun can beam down on them.
They live on a very limited and fixed income from social security and a little veteran benefits but it is not enough to pay for the standard rent plus food and medication. After searching for places to rent, it is apparent that the only option is to buy a trailer or mobile home. However, if you happen know of anywhere in the Garnderville/Minden or even Carson City area that they can rent or stay in for less than $900/month, please let me know!
PLEASE PLEASE help us to raise enough for them to get a safe roof over their heads and replace the necessities.
