Hi my name is Sara. I just adopted a stray cat from Cuba named Garfield. He is 1 years old & suffering 3 fractured teeth needing extractions or risks serious infection.
Garfields Journey - He arrived from Varadero to Toronto September 2024 thanks to the persistence of a dedicated rescue team, Kim and Lori Blair. He was living outside the Grand Aston in Varadero Cuba, where I was vacationing & first met this sweet boy. I, like many guests had the pleasure of meeting him & giving him pets & treats. I was heartbroken seeing he needed care but couldn’t bring him home.
A Stroke of luck! - He has finished a long journey and made it to Toronto & lucky to be here. All thanks to the persistence of the rescuers who flew him, handled paperwork and navigated customs challenges. Then adopted by me. He was destined to be sent to a shelter and euthanized or other conditions in cuba (mass poisonings/killings, eaten). Unfortunately this is simply due to the many strays with no food or resources.
After being looked at by a vet, it was discovered he had 3 fractured teeth needing extraction, on top of additional costs like anesthesia. These costs can be in the thousands for an individual, so all donations small or large count toward his recovery and are so greatly appreciated. And if you didn’t have the pleasure of meeting him on your travels, your donation can still ensure he receives his best care yet!
Garfield was surviving outside day to day & It’s finally time for him to experience his happiest & healthiest life!
Thanks to all who loved and brought kindness to him until he could safely be here in Canada. We can’t wait for him to have a full recovery to share with you.
