Garrett and Mason Hodges

Early Sunday morning (12/17/2017) my brother-in-law, Cory Hodges was involved in a tragic car accident with my oldest nephew Garrett. The vehicle hit a tree, Garrett was in the back seat and Cory was driving. Though it still doesn't seem real, Cory, the father of my nephews, their Grammy's son, his sister's brother, our brother-in-law, did not make it, he was gone when help finally arrived.
My nephew Garrett (12 years old) suffered severe head trauma and was rushed to one of the most amazing hospitals I can even imagine where they did everything they could to save him and thank God they were successful. Because they were not found immediately following the accident he had severe swelling and two skull fractures, fractures that ended up saving his life. He had surgery where everything was addressed from a health perspective and to everyone's shock (and this is daily) he is doing amazing. He remembers, he comprehends, he's a kid, he's the kid I knew a week ago, just the same......but with one HUGE dad shaped hole in his heart.
His brother Mason was not in the accident, he left the day previously to visit his mom, my sister, for Christmas and we're thankful that he's able to support his brother in his recovery but he's now a 9 year old boy how lost the most important man in his life, his dad.
Both boys and their mom, Mandy, are staying here in Austin at my house until further notice. There is a lot of recovery involved in a horrific situation such as this and thankfully everyone felt it would be best to keep the kids close to great medical care and a strong support system.
We need your help. I have found a counselor for the boys and we had our first session yesterday. Because they lost their dad so suddenly and due to Garrett actually being in the vehicle I want to ensure they will be able to have professional help. I also know we're looking at significant medical expenses related to Garrett's recovery AND Aunt Coco would do anything on the planet for those two humans but I cannot do it by myself. If you have the ability to share, contribute or provide advice, our family would be so thankful. I've learned over the past few days I don't know what to do, I don't know if I'm making things better, doing this right, I don't know what the next MINUTE will bring, but I DO know these two boys are my life and I WILL not let them down.
