Garrett Lorenzo G-LO STRONG (F*ck Cancer)
Donation protected
As some of you may already know, Garrett has recently been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia AML (blood/bone marrow cancer). As you can imagine this news has rocked our world and Garrett will be fighting for his life.
The most important piece of his story is the need for a bone marrow transplant. Because of the type of cancer he has he will endure chemo and then need a bone marrow transplant. Of course everyone in the family will be tested first to see if any of us are a match but in the event we are not he will go onto the donor list to see if anyone else out there matches him.
Anyone can volunteer to be tested and put into the registry to see if they are a match and I'm asking anyone to test on his behalf OR for the thousands of others that are in need. I'll have details regarding the process of getting tested in the coming weeks.
Garrett will be starting outpatient chemo next week and then will be hospitalized for a month for intensive chemotherapy at Moffitt. This will be the toughest battle of his life, but I know how strong my son is and with everyone's prayers and support, I know he will come out of this and will be ready for the next chapter of his life!
As you can all imagine, even with insurance, Garrett's medical bills will be massive and he's no longer able to work. Although, this is secondary to his health it's still a looming cloud over his head. If anyone can help him whether it's monetarily, emotionally or by testing for a bone marrow transplant, we'd appreciate it!
Those who know Garrett, know he has a heart of gold. He's the most loving, compassionate, empathetic human being on the earth! And through all of this he still cracks his jokes and is the one assuring us it's all "Gucci". This boy taught me true love from the first day he was born and I'm so proud to call him son! Let us all join together to help Garrett battle this!
