Garth Davis cancer treatment fund
Donation protected
The Davis family found out today that Garth has Ewing’s Sarcoma. Unfortunately, it has already metastasized in a few spots. For those of you who know Garth and the family, this is his second bought with cancer as he survived Non-Hodgkins lymphoma only five years ago. His first sweet wife lost her battle with cancer around the same time. This new diagnosis is unexpected and so difficult to take, not even a full year after he remarried sweet Kirstie. So much now depends on how he responds to treatment. We pray that he responds greatly! We will know his response in about 6 weeks or after two rounds of treatment.
Tuesday, July 10th they go back to MDA to do an echo-cardiogram and put in his chemo line. He starts chemo treatment on Monday the 17th. He will have 1 week of treatment (Monday-Saturday morning) then two weeks off treatment. He will have a total of 12 to 13 treatments like this with several blood test done while he is in his off treatment periods. His blood tests will be completed in Austin and hopefully he will never need blood transfusions.
Kirstie will be Garth's caretaker and will take a leave of absence from work each week he has treatment and stay with him in the Houston area. Basically this means she will teach two weeks, then take a week leave, and repeat this process about 12-13 times. They are in the process of figuring out lodging in the Houston area for the next year.
These funds will help to cover their living expenses while undergoing treatment, and help cover the gap in income while they are on leave. If we can raise more than this, that will really help!
Immediate needs:
- a comfortable and affordable place for them to live in Houston during treatment periods over the next year
- help to cover expenses while in Houston
- help to cover the cost of treatment
- help to fly the girls from college to visit when they are able
Please pray for the Davis family and help out in any way you can. All funds raised will go directly to the Davis family.
