Garth Family Mold Remediation
Donation protected
One of my favorite families is going through something really rough right now. Toxic mold is no joke, and these sweet souls have been living with it unknowingly for years. Katie and her 4 children Issac, Elam, Benjamin and Adelaide, have been sick off and on throughout the years but never once thought it could be caused by a mold problem. Katie struggles with migraines, and serious sinus issues. The kids have had a variety of unexplained illness and digestive issues, all overlooked by doctors as possible side effects of toxic mold poisoning. Since her husband is out of the home most of the time, his symptoms aren't as severe, although he has had a chronic cough, that never seems to go away.
A month ago, Katie was down in her basement, which she rarely goes into and discovered all kinds of mold growing in the dark. They decided to have some tests done, confirming that they have toxic mold growing in several areas of the house.
For those of you who know nothing about this problem, let me tell you it's horrible. You have to throw out EVERYTHING you own. There is no cleaning this stuff off, it more than likely will grow back. They have to do very costly mold remediation (about $7000), gut the whole kitchen, dump all their belongings and then try to sell their house, which will probably be undervalued.
During this time, Katie is taking the kids to live with her parents in WV, uprooting the children from the life they know, and her husband will have to stay in GA to take care of the house.
So what I'm asking is for you to donate anything you can to help them rebuild their lives after this is all over. They will be financially depleted, they are a one income family, and Katie homeschools the kids. They will have to buy all new furniture, mattresses, clothes, kitchen stuff, toys etc. And if you are wondering, no, their insurance is not helping with any of it. Big shocker, I know.
Toxic mold is not something many people are aware of, so I encourage you to educate yourself, and think about your own health. If you have many unexplained illnesses, headaches, chronic fatigue and sinus issues, trouble sleeping, the list goes on and on. It can take years to get it out of your system. In addition to all the financial needs for the house stuff, there are many mold tests they have to take and doctors appointments to pay for that health insurance won't cover.
Thank you for reading this through, please take a minute to donate and help this sweet family!
