Gary and Jackie Nielsen Relief Fund

Hello our names are Jackie and Gary Nielsen.

We have been long time residents of South Lake Tahoe since 1977 and were the business owners of “The Entertainer”, a Wedding Production Company here in Tahoe for 30+ years. We also started the “Mail Connection”, a private PO BOX service, “Looney Grams”, a singing telegram business, and “Super-Sec”, a secretarial business, all for many years.

After retiring from “The Entertainer” in 2008, Gary worked at Zephyr Cove Resort as a Bus Driver and in the campground as campground Host. For the past several years he has worked as an Uber driver, until an unfortunate accident happened.

On Monday 1-15-24 he had a severe fall resulting in a head injury and a broken femur. After surgery and a four day stay at Barton Hospital, he has been transferred by ambulance to a skilled rehabilitation nursing facility for Carson for some time.

We are grief stricken and lost. For the first time in many years, we find ourselves in dire financial strain. Although we are humble and proud, and this is difficult for us, we are asking for help.

The emotional toll, cost of care, expenses to get by and survive this dark moment in our lives have dampened our spirits and suffocated us beyond what we are capable of handling on our own. We’ve attempted to reach out to local services for disability and assistance and have been repeatedly denied. This is our last hope.

We’re not expecting a miracle, we’re hoping for a lending hand, no matter how small or few. We have tried our best to strive to help our community and those in need, and hope that the good will of others will hear our plea and return in kind.
