Gary Berg Medical Fund Support

Hey there, my name is Tricia Lawrence organizing a fundraiser for Gary Berg.

Our very own Gary Berg, VW legend and icon, GB Performance VWs, Gary Berg Built “The Sound of Music” Weber Carb restoration/rebuilds, and beloved ‘cat dad’ to Baby Girl kitty desperately needs our help. Gary, the eldest son of Gene Berg, founder of Gene Berg Enterprises (GBE), has been building and manufacturing high Performance VW power plants, parts specializing in Berg 5 Speed Transmission and Weber Carburetor work since 1974. The Berg name is synonymous with VW Quality, Performance & Reliability.

After not feeling well for weeks and contracting Covid, Gary suffered a significant cardiac event the evening of January 10, 2024. Gary managed to contact a neighbor who called 911 before collapsing. He was found unresponsive. The paramedics worked to revive Gary, eventually transferring him to a gurney, into the ambulance where he coded again, flat lining suffering a massive heart attack.

The paramedics were about to give up, turned off their sirens, with the Sherriff’s department standing by to notarize time of death when their last attempt to revive Gary brought him back successfully.

He was transported to the local hospital in Fallon Nevada, then airlifted to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno where he underwent several medical procedures, including having 3 stents inserted into his heart.

Gary’s return to us and recovery is nothing short of miraculous. All the right people, doing all the right things at exactly the right time. God’s impossible math! He was released from Renown on January 15, 2024, and now has a long road ahead to restore full health and is facing steep medical bills incurred.

Gary has touched so many of our lives, leaving us all the better for having met him. We wish him a swift, full recovery, sending our love and support.

So many of us want to do something to help Gary; let’s all pitch in and help with his medical and living expenses while he recuperates.
