Gary Mitchell (Gaz)

Gary was a long-serving employee of the MACA family and part of a tight-knit group of friends who met at Rosemont six years ago. Given his love for the people at Karlawinda and ongoing commitment to MACA, Gary took an internal transfer to the Karlawinda mine site.

Gary was a friendly, welcoming guy (debatable to those who really knew him) who would roll up his sleeves and get the job done, operating with honesty and integrity.

You would never see him without a coffee or two in one hand and the trusty old vape in the other. You could always mistake the silver fox for wearing a wig, as he seemed to grow more hair at his age rather than losing it and wouldn't last a break before heading back to work without a trim. Gaz was always speaking his mind and never holding back when telling you what he really thought. After a few mid-strength beers each shift change, the soft side would start to make an appearance which you would never take for granted. Gaz had a tough exterior with a heart of gold which will forever be remembered and cherished.

We are coming together to support the Mitchell family and preparing a well-deserved send-off.

He will certainly be sadly missed by all.
