Family Housing Assistance

UPDATE
JAN.10
I have been helping a homeless family of six since January 1. There are beautiful, well-behaved boys age 10,8,5, and 4. Generous and compassionate neighbors and FB friends have supplied all of the clothing, toys, bedding and non-perishable food. They have been living at a low cost Inn, but they need work, more stable housing (temporary or longer term) and work, and possibly low cost child care. She has worked as an installer of industrial insulation. He has worked as a cook and construction assistant but does not speak English. The school administration and social worker are aware of their plight. Family shelters are full (only 20 unit in a communal living situation) and are a short term solution. One room in a hotel is quickly eating up the donated money at $450/week . While it is much better than the dirt floor, unfinished basement where they were stayng in Patterson Park, it is truly an undesirable situation for these children. They have one small car. Due to the generosity of neighbors and Facebook friends, they are NOT in need of clothing, toys, bedding or food at this time. The most dire need is full or part time work, low cost or free temporary housing, possibly free auto mechanic service and childcare. The mother has only been unemployed since November. They had been juggling schedules allowing one of them home at all times while the other works. If you can provide any help, please post here or message me. If you are in the position to donate, I will place the link as a comment below. The mother is an American citizen and received a stimulus check in the spring, but another check will be only a temporary fix without employment and adequate stable housing. The man and the two oldest children have already had Covid and then tested negative. The mom and two younger children never got it. She tested negative and the two younger boys never had it. If that is an issue of concern, they will be tested and provide results to anyone who will consider providing low-cost or free housing, perhaps in exchange for work. These are extremely difficult times for many. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to help this family if you are in the position to do so.

Urgent need for homeless family with 4 boys ages 10, 8, 5 and 4 yrs old. Both parents were laid off due to Covid. They have been temporarily living in a dirt basement in Patterson Park and have been asked to leave on Jan.1! .Both parents lost their jobs in the past month. Denise, who speaks fluent English, worked as a commercial insulation installer until December. Eduardo does dry wall installation. I met them when they picked up a mattress I was giving away for which they were most appreciative. Fifteen generous, compassionate neighbors in my Yorkshire-Haverford community have offered donations of food, clothing, furniture, household necessities, etc., but more than anything they urgently need free or low cost housing and employment which allows one of them to be home with the children at all times. If you have any suggestions for suitable housing and/or employment, please email me at [email redacted] Funds raised will be used for a security deposit and basic living expenses to prevent the family from living on the streets of Baltimore. These are extremely difficult times for many. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to help this family if you are in the position to do so.
