Gatlinburg Wildfire Laundry Fund
Donation protected
On Monday November 28, 2016 a wildfire raged through our community of Gatlinburg, TN. Over 14,000 people were evacuated, over 700 structures were lost, many injured and too many lost their lives.
My name is Stephen Tanner and I am the owner of Super Suds Coin Laundry located in Gatlinburg, TN . We are trying to help the evacuees and emergency responders by providing either free or greatly reduced prices to wash their clothes and linens during their attempts to recover. We can't cover all of the cost ourselves as we are a very small business. So we are therefore seeking donations from others who want to help.
All donations will be used to cover the cost (utilities, chemiclals, and equipment maintenance) associated with washing and drying clothes. bed linens, towels, wash cloths, etc. as well as detergents, bleaches and softeners. Funds will be deposited in our business checking account and used to pay the above costs. Any funds not used will be donated to the Red Cross.
At one point there were 1200 evacuees and emergency response personnel located at the Red Cross Evacuation Center (Rocky Top Sports Complex) located just down the road from our Laundromat. Numerous people are still there. Many will be there for a while. When others are allowed back into their homes they will need to wash numerous items to get the smoke smell out. Not everyone has insurance and some will not have jobs left and will be reduced to unemployment insurance.
We are the only remaining Laundromat located in the City of Gatlinburg. Some of these evacuees have lost everything and have nowhere to launder what little they have. If you want to help, you can donate to this fund.
We are a member of the Coin Laundry Association and have already had members offering help. If you can help to offset the cost for the evacuees and emergency responders it will be greatly appreciated.
Any donations received are considered a gift and are not tax deductible.
