Gazala Projects 2023 Arts Programming

Because Gazala Projects is an independent, artist-run space located in rural Ohio, and because we mainly support the work of under-represented artists, we must rely on crowd-sourcing as a chief form of operating income. That's where individual supporters like yourself can make a huge difference!

In 2023, Gazala Projects programming will include:

*A solo exhibition of work by Ameerah Bad'r, "I Live in My Heart"

*An in-house curated exhibition "Text Me When You Get Home" featuring (to date) Noel Maghathe, Hala Abubaker, Amena Sheikh, Noor Hindi, Mandy Shunnarah, Mona Gazala and Sara Abou Rashed. This exhibition will show in Columbus before traveling back for a second iteration at Gazala Projects.

*Hosting an independently-curated traveling exhibition ل/Transfer with 2 Cincinnati curators.

This is exactly what we aim to raise funds for:

The first $1400 will be distributed as $200 stipends to all artists involved with in-house programmed exhibitions.

The next $1000 ($1401-2400) will go towards the purchase of equipment, materials, signage, printing, and transportation costs for the creation and facilitation of "Text Me" as it travels to Columbus and returns to Gazala Projects.

The following $600 ($2401-3000) will be divided as stipends among any artists doing live talks, readings or performances for in-house projects and also as stipends for independent curators.

Any amount over $3000 will be discretionary, to be used for gallery upgrades or maintenance, capital improvements, or additional artist stipend money.

By mapping out exactly how the funds will be disbursed, we encourage you to support the artists we represent, and to further support the continuation of an independent venue focused on Palestinian artists and fellow artists of color. I am indebted to my creative colleagues for supporting my many other community-based projects in the past, and I am excited to continue with your help in this future work!
