Help Sergiy help his people

I have set up this fundraiser on behalf of Sergiy. He escaped with his wife, five-year-old daughter and elderly parents and is now living with us in the Chew Valley. He was able to leave as he had multiple dependents, including his mother-in-law whose cancer treatment finished only two days before the invasion.

Hello,

My name is Sergiy. I am a refugee in England.

My country and region has suffered a lot over the last year. I live in the UK, but I do everything I can to help volunteers who are directly involved in the lives of people affected.

I have been directly involved in raising funds in England through:

festivals where we shared biscuits and souvenirs in exchange for donations. (I’ll tell you a secret, biscuits were popular ), and

running the Bristol Half Marathon in 2022.

Next I am hoping to do an Olympic distance triathlon in London. I hope this will attract attention and enable me to raise more desperately needed funds. I will need to swim 1.5 km, ride 40 km, and run 10 km. While I have ran 10k before, I’ve never ridden 40k so this will be a big test for me. However, the real challenge will be the swim.

For the last year I have been studying to be a personal trainer at Bristol College, alongside working as a DPD driver. I have not had enough time to train to swim that distance.

There is about a month left before the competition. For the last two weeks, I've started exercising in the pool.

The purpose of this event is to attract as many caring people as possible who would like to help my country by donating money.

I have a special flag that will be given to the person who donates the most money by August 7th 2023. See the pictures in the update below. This will be a historical artifact and a reminder of everyone who came together to help.
