Help David's family as he heals from hit-and-run

UPDATE 2/1/24:
It has been seven weeks since the accident, and David remains in the hospital. The driver has still not been caught. The current estimate is that David will need to stay at Craig Hospital for another 4-6 weeks. In January, he suffered a major setback when he developed a blood clot and infection in the leg that had been operated on. He was transported back to St. Anthony's for an additional surgery. We're updating the goal amount for this fundraiser, as the timeline for recovery is stretching on and on. Thank you for supporting this sweet family as they navigate this difficult time. They have been nothing short of incredible.
###
David was involved in a serious accident on Saturday, December 16 riding his bike on Lookout Mountain. He and his 2 friends were struck by a car that was racing at high speed. The perpetrator fled the scene and remains at large (news story here). Of the three riders involved, David's injuries are the most severe. He suffered several injuries, including a subdural hematoma, several fractures in his neck/spine, and a femur fracture. He remains in the ICU. David is self-employed, and will likely be unable to work for many months. Any contribution you can make will help to cover this lapse in employment and allow the family to focus on David's healing.
Update: Due to the uncertainty of David’s condition and how long his recovery might take, I am increasing the goal amount. He remains in the ICU for an undetermined amount of time. The road to recovery will be long.
