Local Homeschooling Growing Needs
Donation protected
Guilford Christian Academy started out with just 4 families in 2002. Our desire has always been to do something for the homeschooling community. Over the years we have grown to serve many families and children. Our enrollment has been over 300 for the past several years and we desire to have an office space where we can offer more to those we serve. For example, if we had space we could store curriculum, science equipment, and other materials that have been donated and provide a place where families could come in borrow or rent these materials, we just do not have the place for it in our home anymore. We would like to use the assistance of those in the community to provide tutoring and classes as well as workshops but we do not have to ability to do that in our home. It is time to spread our wings and fly a bit and be a better resourse for the homeschoolers in Maine.
Our Mission
Mission Statement of Guilford Christian Academy :
Being led of the Lord to start Guilford Christian Academy in 2002, my wife Patricia and I, James White, have filed all the appropriate paperwork to the state of Maine. It is our desire to assist parents and their children in furthering their education by providing them a means by which to homeschool in a legal manner.
It is our belief that God has provided in his Word, the Bible, all necessary and prudent direction in training children. His Word says:
And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. (Deuteronomy 6:5-7), and The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever. (Psalms 111:10)
We offer to our families any assistance that we can possibly give them through our experiences in Homeschooling the past several years. We will provide students with a diploma at the end of their studies at a high school level. However, we denounce a diploma as the goal to achieve. Instead, we feel that it is much more appropriate that the parent and child alike desire that wisdom be their goal; wisdom being the ability to utilize knowledge with discernment and prudence. It is our prayer that by seeking wisdom our students will be able to achieve to the extent of their potential throughout their life.
