Wheels for Wanda
Donation protected
Wanda, a 56 year old mother, personal trainer, and avid cyclist found the strength needed to raise three children and get through divorce on the seat of her bike. But during the last descent of her most epic bike tour, another cyclist crashed into her. On June 28, 2013, Wanda suffered a severe spinal cord injury that left her paralyzed from the chest down.
Wanda continues to persevere leading an independent life! Through the support of family and friends, Wanda has adapted many aspects of her life to be wheelchair accessible. Unfortunately, her daily obstacles are innumerable, including every stair, curb, and rough terrain in her own home and the world beyond.
Hope for freedom has finally come through engineering advancements. The iBOT personal mobility device climbs flights of stairs, hurdles sidewalk curbs, and confidently powers over all kinds of terrain including gravel, snow, and grass- granting Wanda access to nearly all places working legs go! Unfortunately, the iBOT is not covered by insurance- and costs a whopping $30,000.
Your gift will give Wanda the next level of independence. Although limited by her current chair now, Wanda is already so engaged in her land, her family, and her community, and this wheelchair will put her back to being the unstoppable force we all know her to be!
Thank you for considering joining us in supporting Wanda to roll down barriers and expand her world.
