Bring Back Geauga Lake
Donation protected
Geauga Lake was a landmark amusement park located in Aurora, Ohio. Although it changed hands numerous times throughout its lifetime - it currently sits vacant, wasted away by time. Many childhood summers were spent at Geauga Lake between 1887 and 2007, but now developers plan on dividing up the land and selling them off as private housing developments. With a land so historically dedicated to Amusement - this seems like a sin.

It is our Mission to raise the funds to purchase the property from these real estate developers and deliver it back to THE PEOPLE! We will rehabilitate the park close to its nostalgic state, while upgrading amenities and updating safety precautions. as our gorgeous, historical park starts to come back, we will open the area up publicly for a brief touring period while we meet with Intiman and B & M to go over roller coaster design. As construction ensues, we will be looking into hotel providers who would be interested in constructing a world-class resort across the lake. Guests will be able to take a ferry ride across the lake and be dropped off right in the center of the action!
You have the power to bring back one of your most sacred childhood memories for future generations to come; because this time, GEAUGA LAKE IS HERE TO STAY!
Yeah, we realize this project is MASSIVE, and seems impossible; however, all we need is YOU! We are prepared to spend up to $350 Million in order to achieve our grand vision. As of right now – this GoFundMe is set to only allow us to raise enough money to acquire the land. Below is the 5- phase plan we must follow in order to achieve our 350 Million dollar grand vision. Sponsors will be able to help us with a large chunk of this, but first – we must complete Phase 1 ourselves.
Phase 1: Land Aquisition - $50 Million
A Meeting may be held as early as June 2018 with the current property owner to negotiate land acquisition costs. It is possible that we are able to acquire the land for as low as 12 million.
Phase 2: Rehabilitation of Park - $100 Million
the first step is transforming the current waste land into a thriving natural oasis, similar to that of a nature preserve for all of the community to enjoy. Guests can expect amenities such as showers, pools, spas and meal options. We will re-create the historic landmark entrance to Geauga Lake. The main midway will be fittingly named The People’s Midway as it is paved with bricks inscribed with the name of every one of you gracious enough to donate $5,000+.
Phase 3: Attractions Construction - $150 Million
once we establish ourselves as the Mecca of family leisure resorts, the next level is inevitable – Coasters! Additionally, proms and weddings may be held at ThunderHawk Hall. Guests may enjoy a breezy family picnic in the Big Dipper Pavilion, topped off with an ice cream at Double Loop Scoop! Visit the Geauga Lake Museum located right next to re-creation of the historical Geauga Lake entrance!
Phase 4: Hotel Construction - $20 million
A hotel sponsor will be sought out to build a hotel on the location which once was Wildwater Kingdom. The park itself will be open to guests to safely roam all hours of the night. This will allow us to offer a hotel experience like no other! Ferries will operate to transport guests from the front of the park to the newly constructed hotel boardwalk. Along the boardwalk will be various amenities such as Raging Bob’s Bar and Grille.
Phase 5: Maintenance and upkeep -$30 Million
Once the park is fully operational we will need approximately $30 million in operating cost until we start turning a profit - which will allow us to continually update the park and make it the most pleasurable experience available in Ohio! a lot of this will likely become the salary of thousands of local citizens. This will help ensure that this beautiful park never decay’s to the state it is in currently.
Edit (3/6/18): In the unlikely event that our plan to bring back Geauga Lake Amusement Park should fail, our shareholders have already decided by popular vote that all funds shall be donated to Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital.
Please contact us if you have already donated, and are uncomfortable with this.
If you have not yet donated and plan on doing so, please take note of this.
Thank you Everyone! The support has been tremendous!

Edit (3/20/18): i wanted to help clear up any confusion and present a concise vision of what this year will entail. I would like to first thoroughly introduce myself. My name is Brian Roote, and i am from the Cleveland Area. Growing up here, I have spent most of my life in amusement parks. My first real experience was at Geauga Lake; thus, it is an incredible honor that nearly fifteen years later, i am the president of the Geauga Lake Rehabilitation Commission! Geauga Lake is something near and dear to my heart. I started this GoFundMe because I know that it is our last opportunity to save this historical landmark for our future generations. As stated in our latest press release, we will only be accepting donations through the GoFundMe platform. Once we raise enough funds, we will be withdrawing the money in order to purchase the land. We have spoken to all the necessary parties in advance and in fact, have their blessing. However, In the event that we do not reach our goal by December of 2018, all funds will be donated to Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital - which has been decided by our donors. We will hand deliver a large check to Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital, helping those in need – Just in time for Christmas 2019!
