Help Madelène kanker te verslaan! Lees het verhaal

Mijn naam is Tessa Sariman, 23 jaar, en heb in 2020 geheel onverwacht, mijn moeder verloren. Dat is een heel heftige en moeilijke tijd voor mij geweest waarin mijn bonusmoeder en grote liefde van mijn vader, Madelène, altijd voor mij klaar stond. Mede door haar liefde en steun heb ik geleerd om te gaan met het verlies van mijn moeder.

En dan ineens volgt dat afschuwelijke bericht dat het leven van Madelène compleet verandert en op zijn kop zet. Alvleesklierkanker. Een uitslag waar wij en vooral Madelene, zich niet bij neer wil leggen. Ik kan niet nog een moeder verliezen.

Het is mijn beurt om haar nu te helpen.

Madelène Mulleneers werkt al 31 jaar als stewardess bij de KLM, al 18 jaar als purser, en heeft vele harten veroverd met haar zorgzaamheid, humor en positieve energie. Ze is maatschappelijk betrokken, staat voor iedereen klaar en heeft een actief sociaal leven. Madelene geniet met volle teugen van het leven. Samen met haar man Michel delen zij een gezamenlijke passie, mountainbiken, en zij fietsen de mooiste tochten en genieten volop van elkaar. Het leven is goed en lacht haar toe.

Na een half jaar maagklachten begon ze geel te worden en toen pas is ze doorgestuurd naar het ziekenhuis voor verdere onderzoeken. In juli 2022 kreeg ze de diagnose alvleesklierkanker. Dit kwam als een mokerslag aan. Hoe is dit mogelijk? Madelene leeft gezond, is ongelooflijk energiek en heel sportief. Ze is pas 54 jaar.

Opgeven staat niet in haar vocabulaire en ze gaat met een positieve instelling de 8 rondes chemo in met als doel een operatie. Goed nieuws: ze kan in januari 2023 geopereerd worden. Wij konden ons geluk niet op: Madelene kan beter worden en haar leven weer oppakken. Na de zware operatie kwam het allerbeste nieuws dat we konden ontvangen: ze was kankervrij!!! Nu kon ze aan haar herstel beginnen met uitzicht op een toekomst zonder kanker.

 

En met volle energie en kracht begon ze aan haar herstel. Ze was vastberaden om zo snel mogelijk weer aan het werk te gaan, promotie te maken en het mountainbiken op te pakken. Maar het mocht niet zo zijn: slechts 6 maanden na het goede nieuws volgde een afschuwelijke uitslag na een medische check. Er zitten nog kankercellen in haar lichaam die afkomstig zijn van de alvleesklierkanker. Onze wereld stond stil maar Madelene, strijdvaardig als zij is, is niet van plan zich bij deze uitslag neer te leggen. Ze wil leven.

 

Ze is op zoek gegaan naar mogelijkheden om de kanker te lijf te gaan. Na een hele zoektocht is ze terecht gekomen bij een denditrische celtherapie. Hierbij wordt het immuunsysteem actief gemaakt die de kanker van binnenuit bestrijdt en haar een kans op herstel geeft. Hier zijn inmiddels goede resultaten mee behaald. Dit is een kans die Madelène met beide handen wil aangrijpen maar de therapie is kostbaar en wordt niet door zorgverzekeraars vergoed. Ik zou het niet kunnen verkroppen dat haar deze mogelijkheid wordt ontnomen puur omdat wij niet over de benodigde financiële middelen beschikken.

 

Het doel is duidelijk: Madelène in staat stellen de behandeling te krijgen die haar een toekomst kan geven. Er is €50.000 nodig om haar te helpen deze financiële last te dragen. Elk bedrag, hoe klein of groot ook, brengt ons dichter bij dit doel.

We begrijpen dat niet iedereen in staat is om financieel bij te dragen, maar er zijn andere manieren waarop je kunt helpen. Door dit verhaal te delen met je netwerk, vergroot je de kans dat we ons streefbedrag bereiken.

Haar glimlach, haar vastberadenheid, haar bewonderingswaardige doorzettingsvermogen en haar liefde zijn een inspiratiebron voor velen. Als iemand deze strijd kan winnen is het Madelène wel. Ik kan haar niet missen.

My name is Tessa Sariman, 23 years old, and I lost my mother unexpectedly in 2020. That has been a very intense and difficult time for me in which my “bonus” mother and greatest love of my father, Madelène, was always there for me. Partly because of her love and support, I learned to deal with the loss of my mother.

And then suddenly follows that horrible message which changes Madelène's life completely and turns it upside down. Pancreatic cancer. A result that we and especially Madelene, do not want to resign ourselves to. I can't lose another mother.

It's my turn to help her now.

Madelène Mulleneers has been working as a flight attendant at KLM for 31 years, as a purser for 18 years, and has conquered many hearts with her caring, humor and positive energy. She is socially involved, is there for everyone and has an active social life. Madelene enjoys life to the fullest. Together with her husband Michel they share a common passion, mountain biking, and they cycle the most beautiful tours and enjoy each other to the fullest. Life is good and smiles at her.

After half a year of stomach complaints she began to turn yellow and finally she was sent to the hospital for further examination. In July 2022, she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. This came as a sledgehammer. How is this possible? Madelene lives healthy, is incredibly energetic and very sporty. She is only 54 years old.

Giving up is not in her vocabulary and she undergoes 8 rounds of chemo with a positive attitude with the aim for surgery. Good news: she can have surgery in January 2023. We couldn't be happier: Madelene can get better and resume her life. After the heavy operation came the very best news we could receive: she was cancer free!!! Now she could begin her recovery with a view to a future without cancer.

And with full energy and strength, she began her recovery. She was determined to get back to work as soon as possible, promote and take up mountain biking. But it was not ment to be: just 6 months after the good news, a horrible result followed after a medical check. There are still cancer cells in her body that come from pancreatic cancer. Our world stood still but Madelene, combative as she is, has no intention of resigning herself to this result. She wants to live.

She has started looking for opportunities to fight the cancer. After a whole search, she ended up with a denditric cell therapy. This activates the immune system that fights the cancer from the inside and gives it a chance of recovery. Good results have now been achieved with this. This is an opportunity that Madelène wants to seize with both hands, but the therapy is costly and is not reimbursed by health insurers. I cannot tolerate that she will be deprived of this opportunity purely because we don't have the necessary financial resources.

The goal is clear: to enable Madelène to get the treatment that can give her a future. It takes €50,000 to help her bear this financial burden. Any amount, no matter how small or large, brings us closer to this goal.
