Stefanie Elam is the Director of Garrard County EMS who also has over 20 years of EMS experience. She has two children , a husband and two grand kids. In late 2014, She was diagnosed with cancer resulting in her thyroid being removed. Since then she has had many bumps in the road, She has been to the cancer treatment centers of America in Philadelphia, several times this past year having to stay for several days at a time. The Dr's are having a hard time finding the right meds to supplement her thyroid. Director Elam has recently learned that her body can no longer absorb meds in the pill form. So this only leaves one other option for her and that it to have two injections of "synthyroid" daily. She is required to go to the local hospital everyday for these injections. These injections are gonna cost approx $500.00 daily and insurance may not pay. She has to take them for the next 14 days until she can go back to Philadelphia. This is the only option for her at this point. With these injections she can live a normal day - day life. Please I am asking everyone to please let's all come together to help her and her family out. Remember you can't put a price on life.
