Geislinger Family Adoption

I am creating this Go Fund Me account to benefit our dear friends the Geislingers for whom we wish nothing more than for them to be able to grow their family through adoption. Below is a heartfelt message from them, explaining why, despite all of their financial planning and saving, they are still in need of some support to give this sweet baby a chance at a safe and wonderful life with them.

Introduction

Hello! We are David and Rachel, and we are fundraising for our 2nd adoption. Following our first adoption, we had planned and budgeted for a second one. However, this adoption is unique and has fallen well outside what we had budgeted. We are humbly asking for your support.

Calling

After waiting 3.5 years (huge thank you to all those who “waited” with us) we got a call from a couple saying they want to match with us! However, the agency warned us that this was the highest price they had seen for an adoption, and we knew this would be a challenge to meet financially. The next week was a whirlwind of emotion as we had to make our decision on whether to move forward with this adoption or not. But we felt a strong calling to this child…through the Holy Spirit and through the love and support we have already received from our community. “God will provide for all that we need here at the table of plenty.”

Decision

We made the decision to move forward in faith with this adoption; a baby girl (baby “Kiki” as Emma has coined her) from Florida! Emma (our 6yo daughter) is over the moon excited about becoming a big sister! We recently got back from our first visit with the birth parents in Florida…everything went well! The due date is 8/23/23!

Baby

Due to unfortunate exposures in utero, this baby will spend several weeks in the NICU. Once the baby is discharged from the hospital, there is an additional 5-10 days we will have to stay in Florida. This process following release from the hospital (ICPC) is to ensure we can legally take this baby home to Wisconsin. We are being told our total estimated stay in Florida will be 6 to 8 weeks.

We are asking for assistance on a fraction of the costs for this adoption.

Here are how your funds will be used to help us:

•Adoption Agency Fees

•Birth Mother Expenses (These are extremely high due to the mother being homeless and not able to find lodging other than to stay in a hotel in Florida for 6+ months – We are responsible for providing funds for safe lodging, food, maternity clothing, utilities, transportation for the birth mom. All these expenses are handled through the Adoption Agency)

•Travel Expenses between Wisconsin and Florida for our family.

•Adoption Post-Placement Fees
