Gellions AFC VS Kickabout Aberdeen

Who are we, Gellions AFC are a local amateur football team based in Inverness and play in the IDFA league. Last season we travelled to Aberdeen to play a fantastic group of lads in a 90 min football match purely to raise awareness and funds surrounding men’s mental health.

Who are they…. Kickabout Aberdeen are an organisation set up to provide a safe setting for dads, uncles , brothers and sons whom are suffering from mental health & depression. They organise social football games & training which provides a confidential and non judgemental environment to allow individuals to talk and speak about problems whilst promoting fitness and healthy mind states. A truly fantastic organisation.

On Saturday 09th September 2023 Kickabout Aberdeen are coming too Inverness too take part in a charity match to again continue our movement in improving the support available too everyone suffering from Mental health and depression.

Sports and fitness can really improve mental state and we are using the game we all love to bring the community together and shine the light on an ever growing problem that’s happening not just in the Highlands but EVERYWHERE!!

Suicide is one of the biggest killers in your community and in particular Men under the age of 35, are the highest risked category.

More information about Mikeysline: Mikeysline was founded in 2015 after a number of suicides in the Highland area. We run two services, a text line 07786207755, as well as the Hive centre in Inverness. We have 4 aims which are the motivation behind all that we do: Help fight the Highland wide problem of chronic loneliness. Provide a light in the dark for those in the depths of depression. Offer a distraction from thoughts leaning towards self harm. Tackle head on the staggering rate of suicide in the Highlands.
