My name is Geriel. I was born in Grenada, West Indies and came to America with my seven siblings and parents at the age of five! Our parents did not have plenty, however as educators and leaders in their communities they instilled the importance of what I call the "three fruits" FAITH, FAMILY and EDUCATION! It was through their example and the real life statement " it takes a village to raise a child" was what made me truly model my parents actions. My parents were very the courageous when they moved their family from our well established life in our beloved homeland to America in the hopes of better opportunities. As, I grew older I knew the importance of education, of working smarter than harder and of being successful, determined and persevered to always PUSH FORWARD with anything I put your mind too! As life progressed, I became wiser and grew up to be an educator of my own at a very young age.
Ever since age 11, I developed a math, science and English summer school and fitness program for my two younger sisters and other children in the neighborhood. I AM an ADVOCATE of Celebrating LIFE and Promoting EDUCATION! In Honor of my Loving Grandma and my Passion and Dedication to STEM Education and Research, I’ve Created these Two Scholarships (GEM Scholarship and Ena Scholarship) to HELP Support Underprivileged YOUTH to Further their Education and Succeed Professionally!
I encourage the YOUTH to never give up and always strive for perfection while maintaining a high GPA. To learn more about these two scholarships, please LIKE my Facebook Page GEM Scholarship Foundation.
The ENA Foundation- is a non-profit foundation that promotes purity and excellence for young women in every stage of their life. Through her life, Ena Sybil Edwards (“Our Mama”) made a huge impact on the world by devoting herself to God and living the purest and simplest life where she gave unwillingly, was always faithful and loved everyone. The ENA Foundation was designed to encourage Young Girls and Women TO LIVE in Purity and Excellence, to NEVER STOP Pursing their life long dreams which will ultimately become their legacy. The Ena Scholarship will be awarded to a young lady age 18-25 who promotes excellence in entrepreneurship and philanthropy.
The GEM Scholarship - In Honor of My Hard work and Legacy is a scholarship designed to encourage and promote aspiring STEM majors who come from unprivileged families to maintain a 3.3 or better throughout their academic career. The GEM Scholarship hopes to award 4 raising high school seniors a $500 scholarship each year for up to 4 years of their college career.
Please donate to my two scholarships and help SUPPORT a GOOD CAUSE! Thank you for your time and support! Blessings, Dr. GEM
