Gemma's life with OI
Donation protected
Hi everyone. My name is Joanna Feintisch. I'm starting this go fund me page for my best friends, the Dadone family. Gemma Dadone is a 4 year old girl born with a rare condition called Osteogenesis Imperfecta or brittle bones disease. She is only 4 years old and lives with chronic pain. She has had numerous broken bones in her short life, even in utero Gemma had broken bones. She was born with many breaks that had healed or were healing at birth. She now breaks bones from even the slightest of movements. Her needs grow daily.
Currently, accessibility is her biggest need.
She is now aware that her legs do not work like other kids and although she has a wheelchair, she craves independence. Gemma would love to have a power wheel chair so she can "play tag with her friends" and move more freely on her own. Despite her rare condition and adversity, she is the cutest, sweetest, spunkiest, happy little 4 year old girl. Cognitively, Gemma is completely typical. She is far too aware of her condition and its heartbreaking to hear her crave playing with other kids or to just do regular things like dance.
Her parents have tried getting her a power chair to give her more independence but with a power chair comes more obstacles. Gemma needs an accessible house in order for insurance to approve her new chair. In addition to an accessible house, she must have an accessible car. If she doesn't have these things in place, she will not get her chair. We are all so desperate to see Gemma live the best life she can have. Her parents are desperate to see her get the independence she craves daily. We are asking for donations of any size to help Gemma gain as much accessibility in her day to day life. Her needs go far beyond accessibility but these are basic needs that are astronomically costing and feel impossible to meet. We would appreciate donations of any size to help our girl get the accessibility she needs.
