A Stage Play: Generational Trauma & Mental Health

"Living in a world with a mental or substance problem is like living in a world of unconscious and conscious paranoia and loneliness."

The stage play, Somewhere In A Rainbow is a book based on the true story of my life which exposes generational trauma.

I have converted the book into a stage play to increase awareness about generational trauma and mental health problems that plague our society.

In the picture posted is four generations; my mother, daughter, granddaughter and myself. Each generation passed on to the next generation a multitude of hidden mental health concerns.

Below is a snapshot of the stage play, Somewhere In A Rainbow.

"Rose, the main character, takes the audience on a journey filled with love, pain, hopelessness and healing.

The audience emerges into the life of Rose as she recounts her life to the ears of a therapist for the very first time. They are holding her hand every step of the way as she brings up her painful past in the hopes of healing and breaking the vicious cycle of abuse, self-destruction and generational trauma."

Here are the reasons I am motivated to share my story on stage and to ask for financial help in doing so.

*To dispel the myth that therapy is for ‘crazy’ people.

*To help alleviate the stigmas and low self-worth generated by society.

*To learn what ‘triggers’ are through self-awareness.

*To dismiss the belief that your stuff is so unique that no one else is experiencing it or will understand what you are going through.

*To communicate to all people that they are worthy of getting better, capable of feeling better and have the ability to do better.

*To help individuals to simply relax and embrace the idea that there is someone capable of helping them through a crisis.

*To encourage people to take that extra step in finding a qualified professional.
