Gene's Costume Shop Fire Needs Community Support

Donation protected

We are fundraising to help our beloved and iconic Gene’s Costumes, owned by Ginger Ager, on Connecticut Ave in Kensington, Maryland recover from a devastating fire that occurred this afternoon (02 Jan 2024). The fire started in the basement and was deemed to be electrical in nature. Unfortunately, Mrs. Ginger Ager stated that there was no insurance at the time of the fire to help recover from the damage caused by the fire. Ginger is an amazingly wonderful woman who has dedicated her heart and soul to the community, providing smiles to the young and young at heart for over 30 years. Her Costumes were not only high quality but also fun, creative, and even spooky at times. She regularly provided costumes to individuals, local high schools within the DMV, and theatrical groups to include the Kennedy center. If you needed something, she most likely had it. And if she didn't, we all knew we could count on her to get it for us.
That being said, it's our time to help provide Ginger with the support and love that she needs to bring back those amazing smiles to you. Please consider helping our neighbor in need by making a donation to help her rebuild her business as soon as possible. Any little amount counts and together, we as a community can make a difference for someone who has made a difference for us behind the scenes.
