Candy's Gentle Barn Fundraiser
Donation protected
To my fellow animal lovers:
I would like to tell you about a special place called The Gentle Barn.
The Gentle Barn rescues, rehabilitates, and gives sanctuary to severely abused and neglected animals. It is a place where these animals can find peace and love. Their mission is simple: Teaching people kindness and compassion to animals, each other, and our planet.
In addition to rescuing animals, Gentle Barn also hosts abused children, kids recovering from substance abuse, kids on probation, foster kids, and children and adults with mental, emotional, and physical challenges. Through the interaction with animals, the kids learn forgiveness, courage, strength, leadership skills, trust, empathy, and kindness. The healing that takes place when the kids get together with the animals is miraculous.
My personal story:
The first time I went to Gentle Barn I was a little overwhelmed. I have always had a deep connection to animals. Seeing these beautiful creatures brought back feelings and thoughts that haunted me throughout my life. As a child and teenager, I was deeply affected by horrific animal abuse at the hands of my own father. Some of those animals got me through some of the toughest years of my life. This is something I never thought I'd share with the world, but I'd like everyone to understand why this is something so close to my heart.
As I learned the stories about what these animals have been through, I also realized that seeing them in a place of protection and love was bringing me comfort and healing in a way that I hadn’t expected. Interacting with them was therapeutic and healing my heart. At that time I realized that anything I could do to help would be a healing mission in my lifetime.
This is my 3rd Fundraiser and Goal:
Feeding and caring for these beautiful animals is expensive. With your kindness and generosity I can reach my goal of $2000 for their food and care.
If I exceed this goal, I would love to make a few more donations to my favorite sanctuaries.
(Follow-up info and photos will be posted)
You don’t have to be a vegetarian or vegan to support the humane treatment of animals. Together we can make the world a more compassionate place for all.
A final thought:
Aside from raising money, I’d like everyone to know there is an alternative to going to the zoo. Instead of visiting a place where animals are confined, why not take your family to a sanctuary where they can learn, interact and touch those animals. A wonderful experience for all!
Thank you in advance for your support.
