Gentry's Stem Cell Treatment for Cerebral Palsey
Donation protected
Hi everyone. Our friend and neighbor's (Lisa Williams) son Gentry was born premature at 27 weeks in 2013. He was 2.5 lbs when he was born and suffered significant brain damage within a few weeks after birth. He has quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy and Cortical Visual Impairment. He cannot crawl, sit, walk or talk at this time but we hope that with this treatment he be able to join his peers with playing, swimming, riding a bike, and all things 6 year old's love to do everyday. He is now on the list to receive core blood stem cell treatment at MD Anderson within the next couple of months. This treatment at MD Anderson is based off the treatment study completed by Dr. Joanne Kurtzberg at Duke University. This treatment show great potential for Gentry and we hope that we can provide him with the opportunity to gain motor function that will help him with independent movement, reduction of constant pain, and the ability to talk. Gentry is a happy, loving child that with an increase in his abilities can thrive in life. Unsure at this time of the total cost for the stem cells, but they're are being told it is very expensive. Thank you everyone for taking the time to understand Gentry's conditions and hopefully the video can help explain more on the treatment we hope Gentry will receive.
