Geo-Cultural Field Studies in Hawaiian Ecosystems
Donation protected
Hello, family and friends! This year for my birthday (December 8th), I have but one item on my wishlist: a roundtrip plane ticket to Hawaii that is required for ENVS S475 in the Spring semester of 2024. Here is the course description:
ENVS S475 -- Geo-Cultural Field Studies in Hawaiin Ecosystems: "Explores the intersection of geography, culture, and biota across the ridge-to-reef ecosystems of Hawaii over a one-week expedition to the 'Big Island' of Hawaii. Students will learn and apply mapping technology like drones, GIS, and GPS while actively participating in an indigenous-lands revitalization project, native Hawaiian agroforesty restoration, and field trips in natural and cultural history, in cooperation with Hawaii college students, professors, and local partners. The $700 course fee covers supplies, lodging, local transportation, food, and entry fees. Airfare arrangements are not included in fee, but must be made by student in coordination with instructor to ensure alignment with class needs and complete attendance."
This course not only fulfills a degree requirement, but also supports my exploration of the interrelationship between humans, cultures, and our environment(s). This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!
I am posting this fundraiser early, as we all know the time-sensitivity of ever-fluctuating plane ticket prices! Your donation is so appreciated. <3
With gratitude,
