George G. Tyler Elementary Makerspace Fundraiser
Donation protected
Hello! My name is Lauren Dyas. I am a Junior at Battlefield High School and a member of American Heritage Girls troop VA0226. For my Stars and Stripes project, I have decided to create a Makerspace for George G. Tyler Elementary School in Prince William County, VA. A Makerspace is a room stocked full of assorted supplies for students to create, build, learn, and explore together. They use paper, craft materials, and construction tools to complete challenges, design models, and "make" creations. Materials in a Makerspace vary from recycled items from your house (paper towel rolls, jars, boxes), craft supplies (pipe cleaners, paint, popsicle sticks), and tools (glue guns, 3-D printers). Students work together and a Makerspace offers flexible seating, tables for group work, and easily accessible and organized materials for students K-5.
In order to complete this Makerspace, I will need your assistance in raising money for some of the larger items such as the table, rug, paint and paint supplies, stools, and floor cushions. Anything you are able to donate will be greatly appreciated! Any funds raised beyond my goal will be used to purchase more Makerspace materials or donated to the school for future material replenishment. Thank you!
