George Mason's National Youth Leadership Forum

Hi family and friends,

I have created a GoFund me for Bella's tuition fee for George Mason's National Youth Leadership Forum in Medicine this summer.

Bella was the only participant selected this year from King George High School, this is an honor and something she is very excited about! I asked Bella to write out an explanation to those who may consider helping.. She will also being babysitting, pet walking, yard work (her favorite) and any other odd jobs in an effort to contribute to the tuition.

As a mom, I am so beyond proud of this girl, all of her hard work and her desire to help others!

My name is Isabella Gillow. I am 15 years old and I'm a freshman at King George High School. I'm in my high school medical club (HOSA). I would like to go into the medical field. I don't know what specialty I would like to go in, but different aspects of each field interest me. I was honored to be selected into George Mason's National Youth Leadership Forum (NYLF) medical training camp. At NYLF I will visit and practice in the same training simulation centers that medical students, residents, and physicians use to hone their skills. I will gain hands-on experience in a variety of medical procedures using the latest technology with guidance from medical experts, additionally I'll watch exclusive real life recorded surgical procedure that features a physician talking through each step and answering questions. Being able to take part in this program I will be able to learn all about the medical school application process, explore the many career options available, and specifically identify strategies, academic pathways, and career skills I need to be successful in the medical and allied health fields. I will discover and begin applying communication, conflict resolution, critical thinking, and decision making skills that will help me become a strong, motivated leader both in school and my future career.
