George N. Snell, Jr., 60, of Scotch Plains, formerly of Linden and Clark, passed away surrounded by his family and loved ones on Saturday, October 15, 2022, at Overlook Hospital after a long battle with cancer. Born in Elizabeth, George grew up in Linden and graduated from Linden High School in 1980.

George was an overall athlete and outstanding baseball player in high school and was recognized as a top pitcher in New Jersey in 1980 and was awarded the first State Championship for Linden in baseball history. He was recruited to pitch for University of Alabama.

George was a member of Sheet Metal Workers Local 25 in Lyndhurst and worked for Bonland before retiring in 2020. He was also the former owner of Dukes Deli in Westfield.

He will be remembered as a beloved and dedicated father and for his humor and immense strength. He will be missed by all who knew him.

This GoFundMe was started to help George's family cover funeral costs as his medical expenses, and bills for his cancer treatment depleted most of their funds. The goal of this fundraiser is $15,000, and any donation helps.

We thank you all for your contributions in honoring George N. Snell, Jr, father, uncle, boyfriend, friend, and co-worker.
