We sadly lost George Van Schenck this past week.
George was first, a devoted husband who cherished his wife Kathy. He was then an immediate friend to all that he met. We had the pleasure of being his friend for the past 4 years here at Siteone. George was a dedicated coworker who was perfectly suited for his role as one of our head Drivers. His positive attitude and outgoing personality would immediately win the customer over. In many cases George would be the only person some of our most important customers might see. We were fortunate to have George in that role. He always gave the customer a great impression of who we are.
George often spoke of he and Kathy's long term retirement plans and how they were preparing for that future now. They have some major renovations needed at their home and have been literally in the middle of these repairs when Kathy was stricken with some serious health issues. George of course stepped up to the plate as the devoted husband he was to support her at every step. That is, up until the Covid 19 Virus struck him. As a person out on the front lines of a business, he knew to be very careful, and he did so at every step. He was careful for himself and for all those he interacted with. George was a healthy hard working man and when we heard he tested positive we were certain he'd be one of the rapid recovery stories. The terror of this disease has shocked us all here. This disease is very real, we all need to be diligent with adhering to all Covid 19 protocols and precautions. In three short weeks it's taken George away from Kathy, and all of us.
Kathy is struggling through her own serious health issues, the renovation process at their home, and now the loss of George and his final arrangements.
These will be very difficult times for Kathy and we're hoping to make things a little easier for her.
I know that George is now a major messenger to us. The loss of his life is the ultimate price he's paid to bring us all a message of how important it is to pay close attention to those we love, and to take extreme care of them and ourselves.
Please give as generously as possible so that we can ease this burden on Kathy.
We will miss our friend George tremendously.
He will not be forgotten here at Holtsville
We are all better people for having known George.
Thanks,
