Let us tell you a little bit about George
Charismatic, sweet, a family man, the comic relief and life of every party - George is the consummate "good guy". He loves stand-up comedy, classic rock, and spending time with his family, especially his 8 year old daughter Olivia. In George's house, every Friday is "Daddy and Daughter Movie Night"!
George and his daughter Olivia
What happened?
It was right after the 4th of July, just one month ago, that we received the devastating news that our Uncle George was diagnosed with Stage IV Pancreatic Cancer. A cancer so severe that it had already metastasized to his liver and lymph nodes. We were told by his doctors that with an aggressive form of chemo-therapy that George might be able to add another year or two to his life. As you can imagine, we were (and still are) shocked. How could this happen to George? He's young, healthy, and certainly not anyone that showed signs or symptoms of the disease until about two months ago!! But this was our new reality - we would only have a little while longer with our loving amazing George.
That's when the metaphorical tornado hit - On Tuesday July 28th, I brought George into the hospital for a routine biopsy. After hours of waiting, and then a quick procedure, George was done. My Dad (George's brother Steven) arrived to pick him up, and just as they were about to leave George “got sick” and began to bleed internally. George was rushed to the ER but continued to decline. After a few procedures and blood transfusions, George was swiftly moved up to critical care/ICU.
Over the last week, George has underwent multiple procedures, all due to complications stemming from his cancer, but he continues to fight every obstacle and challenge that has come his way. As of today, George remains in the ICU at the Beth Israel Hospital in Boston.
While the prognosis and outlook is grim, we must remain hopeful that we will have some more time with him. George is a warrior, unbelievably courageous, and is still cracking jokes (well, writing jokes since he has been intubated since Tuesday).
More updates to come...
How you can help!
We are so fortunate that George has an extensive network of family and friends who have stepped up to support him in any way possible. However, because of this cancer, and the state which George is in, he will no longer be able to work. We are now looking to you in hopes you will support his cause!
We want to give George the resources that will allow him to pay his medical expenses, make new memories with his family, and ensure the financial stability of his daughter Olivia.
Please consider making a donation (any size will make a difference) so that we can make George’s journey and rest of his life a little easier.
If you do donate, please share your favorite story or memory of George, so that we can share these tid bits with the man himself!
Thank you for supporting George and our family!
With love,
George’s Family
