George's Climb against Childhood Cancer

My name is George and I'm raising money to benefit The Pediatric Oncology Treasure Chest Foundation. I've hiked over 250 miles of trails in the great Southwest this year and want the next few miles to benefit a charity very close to me.

 

As an 18 month old, I was diagnosed with Leukemia and battled it for several years. I have vivid memories from those days of toddling down the hospital hallway after a check up or chemotherapy session, and finding a Treasure Chest full of toys. It was the perfect distraction from all of the overwhelming unpleasantness. The undying positivity of a child is a helluva thing and it's their greatest gift in the fight against cancer. This is the perfect opportunity to help bring a big smile to a little face.

 

The Treasure Chest Foundation will open its 63rd Treasure Chest Program this October at the University of New Mexico Children’s Hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I'd love to help them start strong with a big donation.

 

I'll be summiting Mount Wheeler, the highest peak in New Mexico, on October 10th. The hike is roughly 8.5 miles and will reach an elevation of 13,159 ft. Come rain, snow, wind, or shine, I'll get to the top. I'm looking to raise $2,000 and any donation will help!

They began in Illinois in 1996 and are now located in 20 states and over 60 hospitals across the nation.
