Georges's Medical Expenses (Pulmonary Fibrosis)

Our beloved father, Georges Doiron, has recently been diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis, along with a rare type of cancer. The cancerous tumour was removed a few days before Christmas and the outlook for that is looking positive, however chemotherapy may still be needed (we are waiting on pathology results).

Unfortunately, the pulmonary fibrosis is considered terminal with a survival rate of between 2 to 7 years from time of diagnosis. There are only 2 pharmaceutical medications that treat this disease and sadly both are filled with terrible side effects. Neither is a cure, but they may slow the disease progression. These drugs may affect the quality of life in very dramatic ways, such as constant harsh side effects (e.g. nausea, diarrhea). These meds would not mix well with chemo; combined would cause too much sickness.

After doing much research, our dad made contact with the WEI Institute. This company deals with natural and holistic products that show great promise for successfully treating his condition (using herbs & other natural products). They have shown to stop the disease in its tracks and/or even reverse it by helping to clear up the scar tissue in the lungs and increasing the oxygen intake. As opposed to the lifelong meds, the holistic treatment promises faster life changing results, often within several months. After considering all of his options and believing that quality of life is also very important, our dad has decided to go the natural route. He strongly believes that this is the more positive choice.

This treatment comes at a high price, approximately $10,000 CAD for 6 months of treatment. Your donation would help make this treatment possible and we are hopeful that it would also mean a better quality of life and would allow our father to enjoy more days spent with his loved ones.

Our dad Georges worked in the human services field for many years, helping countless people with mental illnesses and other health conditions. He has been a rock for so many of us over the years, and now it's our chance to give back and show him that we are in his corner. Every donation helps him get closer to this important treatment.
