Frankie’s top surgery!

Hi,

My name is Frankie and, like many other wonderful individuals, I was born in the wrong body.

Though my journey through gender discovery has been relatively short lived so far (compared to some), I’m quickly becoming increasingly aware of how uncomfortable my chest makes me.

As a transmasc, AFAB person, being comfortable in my body and the way that the world perceives me is incredibly important. Things are progressively getting better but it’s still difficult. I work 12.5 hour days and this alone is something I’m struggling with - it’s too long to wear a binder but I can’t go to work without one. Whenever I try, it just makes my patients and colleagues misgender me more often which is, understandably, very difficult when I’m working hard to help the hospital I work in.

I’m currently on the waiting list with the NHS; the waiting list for an initial consultation is currently around 3 years (or was last time I checked). That’s without waiting for any other appointments needed before the surgery itself. This wait time both terrifies me and breaks my heart, for myself and for any other individual waiting for the gender services in England.

On that note, I’m making this GoFundMe to attempt to raise money to go through a private surgeon to remove my breasts and leave me in the body I know I was meant to be in all along.

(Just a note: I have not had confirmation from a private surgeon that this surgery will cost exactly £6.5k, this is just an estimate based on current figures of other people who have had this procedure done. They all have given figures in the ballpark of £6-7k).
