Geree’s Healing Journey

On Saturday our beautiful mumma, daughter, wife and Narna was rushed to hospital after a slow Saturday morning walking her dog, Zephie. They unfortunately found a bleed in her brain resulting in a hemorrhagic stroke. She was then put on a Lifeflight Helicopter to Cairns, where she unfortunately deteriorated and was therefore put into an induced coma requiring intubation and mechanical ventilation to help her breathe. From here she was taken to Townsville Hospital via Royal Flying Doctors and had neurosurgery to relieve the pressure in her brain from the bleed. She is currently in ICU with a EVD (External Ventricular Drain) to extract the CSF (Cerebra Spinal Fluid) that is unable to drain on its own and still requiring breathing support in an induced coma.

Mum had no risk factors. Her blood pressure has been text book perfect throughout and she lives a healthy, active life. We still don’t know what caused it and may not ever know. From here she will have frequent CT scans to monitor the bleed, however she has a very long road to recovery ahead.
