Gerri Ruane – Help with Medical Expenses

Gerri was diagnosed with Glioblastoma, Grade IV, on January 30, 2023. The tumor is in her right thalamic which makes it inoperable, and we have been told this is rare. Unless God intervenes miraculously, there is no cure, and it is terminal. Currently, she is in acute rehabilitation in Charlotte, NC. Gerri’s family has created this GoFundMe to help offset, and/or pay in full, any medical expenses not covered by Medicare.

Gerri is a wife, mother, grandmother, step-mother, and beloved friend. She has been married to Ed Ruane for 17 years and they have been together for 35 years. She is the mother of Eric and Kurt Bonacker and grandmother to Jackson and Mia. Ed and Gerri have lived in Kannapolis, NC for 17 years. The entire family is from Long Island, New York.

Gerri fell twice on January 11, 2023 due to loss of feeling in her left leg. She sustained bruises, but fortunately, no broken bones. The ambulance was called after the second fall on January 12, and she was admitted to the hospital. MRI and CT scans showed that she had a bleeding tumor. As stated above, the biopsy results are Glioblastoma.

This happened suddenly and has been devastating to the family because Gerri is healthy, vibrant, and full of life. She has Medicare, but the medical expenses are already coming in and Ed needs assistance. Ed and Gerri are both on fixed incomes. He will not be able to cover all the expenses for today and what is ahead.
