Anyone who has ever met our dad all have at least two things in common. He made them laugh and he welcomed them in with open arms and then some. The most selfless and kind man that has walked this earth (maybe We are biased but we think anyone who has met him can agree) has been dealt the worst hand ever imaginable and doesn’t deserve any of this. We are reaching out to anyone who has been lucky enough to meet him. If you have and he’s managed to make you smile or laugh or made you feel at home, all we are asking for is a simple share. Please help us make the best of this awful situation, for him. Help us make him as comfortable as humanly possible when he comes home. On October 8th Gerry suffered from multiple yet mild strokes which caused him to be hospitalized for days. He underwent a surgery to clear his carotid artery and was discharged. A few days later, he was re-admitted and diagnosed with DKA (Diabetic Ketoacidosis) they had him on an insulin drip and stabilized his blood sugars. He acquired an infection at the incision site from the previous surgery. A couple days after being released from the hospital, the infection grew to the point where he was re-admitted for the third time. He underwent 5 separate surgeries in one night. During the final surgery he suffered  a high level stroke that damaged 3/4 of the right side of his brain. That left him paralyzed to an unknown extent. When Gerry finally comes home he will need long term care, rehabilitation and home renovations to make sure he has the best quality of life.
