Help Smith-Hood family get out of unsafe Appt

Hi my name is Jonathan! (Organizer of this fundraiser) Myself and my spouse rent a basement apartment in a house that has health and safety issues that the landlord refuses to fix because “she not giving us a new kitchen.” These issues include mold, sewage back, sewage leaks, pest infestation, no fire safety like smoke alarms and kicked in doors.

In total 8 people live in the home. The family above us has two parents and 4 children under 10. One of whom is under medical treatment.

We all live paycheck to paycheck, if that.

our lease is up in 30 days so we’re able to leave no issue. However, the family still has 7 months left! Maryland law requires 60 days notice and they can break their lease and move out, but they can’t afford to save up for rent for a new place and still pay rent in their existing unit. Let alone moving costs. . Putting them at risk of getting denied any rental due to credit history. Leaving the family homeless.

We are raising money to cover the 60 days of rent so the family can get to a healthy living environment.
